I didn’t even think about tent pegs being sketchy. But I had so much super sketchy stuff that the security just took one lighter away from me and moved on with life YMMV

Not sure how it is elsewhere in the world, but TSA prohibits them in carry-on baggage.
If you’re flying with your bike, just chuck them in your bike box/bag.
If not, your options are:
* don’t bring stakes & find some high quality sticks while setting up camp
* buy stakes upon arrival
* check a bag
* ship them to your destination
* try to sneak them through with understanding that it’s 50/50 that they get confiscated and you don’t see them ever again

Hold luggage not an issue. Hand luggage no no.
Why do you need them to be in hand luggage?
