  1. That little lever on the side should be up or down depending on what you are doing. Try lifting it. I agree, a better pump is in order.

  2. You could have a flat. That means the inner tube inside the tire was punctured and will no longer hold air. To fix this, the inner tube has to be removed and either patched or replaced. There are a vast number of online resources on how to accomplish this.

    I’d also get a better pump, much more practical

  3. How flat is it? Did it go flat after a few weeks of sitting? Or did it suddenly go flat in the course of a day or less? If its the second case then the tube likely has a hole in it and needs to be replaced.
