When you visit one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany… and most people have never even heard of it 😍😍
Located in the stunning region of Baden-Württemberg, this city is known as the City of Gates and Towers, thanks to its three city gates and 10 towers from the original medieval fortification that still stand today!
Just over two hours by train from Munich and less than two hours from Stuttgart, this city deserves to be on your bucket list, whether for its magical Christmas market (that takes over the entire city centre!) or at other times of year to explore the beautiful region and to see this magical city.
On our one-week Christmas market tour, Ravensburg was easily in our top three 🤩 from the delicious food (the raclette on potatoes was AMAZING) to the incredible drinks (Vanille-Glühwein – DELICIOUS), to the lovely people and the much more local feel of the market. It’s also much more of an affordable city to stay in than more popular Christmas market destinations like Munich, Salzburg or Cologne!
Here are some of my recommendations for Ravensburg:
• Climb Veitsburg for amazing views of the city and its towers
• Have a delicious breakfast at Cafe Reck
• Visit the Ravensburger Museum (yes – Ravensburger puzzles are connected to here!!)
• Stay 🛌 at Hotel Kaiserhof, Hotel Residenz (which was where we stayed – great value!) or Zum Engel Gasthof
• Day trip to Friedrichshafen, Ulm, Lindau or Wangen im Allgäu
