To make the story short, i use to be very into building my own bike, and that's what I did. I built myself a kinda gravel bike with an old GT MTB (the timberline I believe). I was suppose to use this bike to travel. Since I built it from the ground up, i felt very confident to be able to repair it no matter what, which is true to some extend.
I realize, with time, that this bike is not a good fit for me. It is way to long and i am lying on the bike so much it hurt my neck just to watch in front of me. To be clear, this bike is a lot of fun, i enjoy riding it in town, it indestructible and i feel like a menace going anywhere without a care in the world.
Cutting to the chase, I was looking to replace it on market place, looking for an other project and I found out about the Kona rove(the one in 1X, in steel, microshift sword). Simple, elegant, everything im looking for. Seem sturdy, love the steel, easy mechanic i believe i can handle. Tried it in a bike shop. Felt like a dream. I realized that in all my life I've never been comfortable on a bike. Never spent 2000$ on one either.
So here i am. Completely in love with this piece of steel and rubber, incapable of thinking clearly. I am incapable of seeing other option. Am I making a mistake?
To be clear, my choice is made (kinda) . Every cent i put aside is for this. But I need a good dose of reality.
To clarify my need, I want a easy serviceable bike, 1X (cause it is what it is cant help), steel frame and fork, not more expensive than this, that i can bike tour with. I will not quite my job to go around the world i don't think i will be more than a week out civilization.
Thank you for your help.
TLDR: I want a bike so bad i cannot think straight and see the other option.

Don’t overthink it. Enjoy your new bike!
Modern konas are top tier touring rigs imo.
