How to Take the Train in France! Strasbourg to Colmar!

hey we’re standing in the strawberg uh train station and we’re going to take the train from straber to cmer we show you what it’s all about here here’s a here’s a pro tip we just learned that validating French tickets no longer has to be done so once you purchase your ticket it’s good you don’t have to go to the little machine to validate it they’ve done away with that so uh that’s we just found that out today so we’re happy about that so let’s show you what to do so if you want to go to Calmar from straussburg which we’re doing look for these little blue machines because it’s really kind of like local travel okay hit the button rotate this bar for English if you want English it was for English you highlight it you see it’s highlighted click it click it again then just click it say you’re departing from stra Borg and you’re going to rotate the little circle here and you’re going to calar pick the day and the ticket is good for the entire day so you don’t have to worry about that so let’s say we pick today and how many adults how many children second class or first class since it’s only a 30-minute ride just do second class and single and then the ticket comes up and then what you do is you pay for the ticket over here with your credit card uh ticket will pop out and then you’re good to go now just like other train stations in Germany and France you can tap your credit card to pay for your ticket okay so the ticket is one ticket for two adults so don’t let that confuse you okay so I use the train line app to figure out what train I want to go to because on the Marquee it just shows where the Train’s Final Destination is so for example we’re going straussburg to cmar but the Marquee shows the train is going to Basel that’s all it shows so what you do is use a train line app get the number of the train that you want to uh take and then check the number on the board and I will tell you uh which platform to go to but it looks like the platforms are only shown right before the train is ready to leave so right now for example we’re maybe 40 minutes early and the platform’s not showing and also you don’t have to validate the ticket uh they’ve done away with that so there’s no validation of ticket the ticket is Good from straussburg to cmore all day today One Direction that’s what we bought so if you miss one train take the next one doesn’t seem to matter there’s no assigned seats and just since it’s a 30-minute ride just get the class to because it’s a quick train ride so after you buy your ticket go on inside and there’s also a marquee here by going inside it was a little bit warmer and there is a marquee there that you can watch to see when your train is assigned a platform just keep a lookout for the train number that you plan on taking and in about 10 minutes before the train arrives it will be assigned a platform the platforms are well marked and as soon as the platform is assigned everybody’s on the move so our number just came up on the board we’re track number [Music] six and looking for number six right now there’s four and five you can see four and five right there and number six should be [Music] next so when you get up on the platform just check the screen right here and just make sure that the stop that there is a stop at Calmar which there is and make sure to get off at Calmar if that’s where you going we waited about 5 minutes and then our train [Music] arrived we are in the second class car and fortunately there are plenty of seats since there’s no assigned seating you can sit down wherever you like but if you paid for a second class car you can’t sit in the first class car and a lot of people got off um when the train arrived and so there are plenty of seats for us and seats are very comfortable aren’t they cushiony very nice and again it’s only 30 minute trip from storg to Kar and the good news is above the seat um the baggage racks are pretty good size you can see people have pretty big bags over there so if you use the train line app you can all your train once you’re on it you see we’re on this train here and if you click on this it shows we’re left a little late and uh we’re going to calar and hit view stops there’s one stop in between and you can see that right there so that’s a good way of uh tracking things okay we made it colar it is a little bit difficult getting your luggage on off the train so you might need some help so um here we are so we’re going to walk to our hotel now so really that’s the end of the video that’s how to get from straussburg to Calmar until next time safe travels hey and just quick when you’re returning from calour back to strab get the same exact process same type of machines easy he
