Admit it- There is nothing better for the human spirit than gentle activity out in nature with other people. It makes for a happier, healthier population and the Netherlands is nailing it. We definitely don’t get enough of that here in the states.
I really wanted to ride a bike. So, I’m here at Vond Park. And look at these people. Just having a lovely life. How wonderful is this? Here’s my bike. I love this. There’s a lot of reasons you should come to the park, and I don’t think we often do that in the US unless our kid needs to kick around a soccer ball. I just saw a man drive by on his bike with his little tiny girl in the front basket and they were singing a song and it was so nice. And then I saw an adult driving a bike with another adult in the bucket and I thought that’s nice too. When’s the last time you saw either one of those happen in the States? Sometimes you just have to admit that sometimes some things in other places might be better.

You fit so well in our country ❤
How wonderful, indeed! ❤
Love Amsterdam. Probably my favorite city in the world!
Welcome to The Netherlands! 😃 Gezellig!
❤
its actually way better than canada even let alone usa which is hell on earth.
We have great parks here,no bikes are being ridden, except by a homeless person!Springfield,Ohio😢
Only admitting this lady a total hottie 😍 🚲
OK, I'll admit it, life is way better in Europe. Much more conducive to my mental health, anyway. Thanks for sharing your trip with us 😍
When I met my husband he lived in San Francisco, people would hang out at the parks. Golden Gate Park specifically had bike rentals, they had tandem bikes that looked like old fashioned cars, I’ve done that a few times. It’s fun. They’re about the size of a golf cart. We would go to the park every so often. He loved near the beach so we spent time there too. I think in bigger cities people hang at parks more than in the burbs.
Same things happen in US. Just saying….
Welcome to Amsterdam. You look creative and effortlessly cool as always. From the states, but have lived near Amsterdam with my Dutch partner for ten years. He and I enjoy Vondel Park and so many other pretty places here. Have fun. 😊
I adore Amsterdam. It was the first time in my comping history that I’d won a holiday. Tickets to the Floriade, too (it was 2002).
There was so much about the Netherlands that we Brits could learn from, but here’s a tiny example: there were some small roadworks. In stead of having plastic cones around the hole, they had ceramic pots of beautiful flowers. Nobody could possibly have fallen into the hole or hurt themselves. There were lights draped around the flowers at night. And nobody stole the flowers or vandalised them or their pots… it made me sigh about our culture.
Welcome in Amsterdam, the city I feel privileged to live in since 40 years….
Love your scarf – just got mine in the mail and cannot wait to wear it!
Love Europe….I did the same …bike riding, purchased a sandwich at the local Family owned deli, but it was in Lucca, Italy.
Perfect
It matters that we notice the good things around us. ❤
I’ll be in that very park in Mid-October! I plan to ride a bike too. Paris was nice, but I feel you are in your element in Amsterdam. I like them too.
bikes everywhere 🥰🥰
That is such a huge and beautiful park. I stayed near there with my husband and we walked through it several times on the way to different places. It was lovely seeing people out in the sunshine enjoying life.
So nice to see you enjoy everyday life in Amsterdam! You really understand the joy we are having here.
I wish you many more wonderful moments and save travels ♥️
