Hi, I just watched this video from Remy Metaillier https://youtu.be/ZLmhPxhOU1A?si=lvHLy5L9ZLKd_ayW

I would like to know if there is anything similar to this and Squamish in Europe, meaning regions where you have super nice and long technical singletrack descents that are not within a bike park.

Or like this video, super engaging rides that take you to very scenic places. I've found some beautiful routes on trailforks in the Dolomites for example, but they are often just mtb paths without a real focus on the descent.

Thanks!

  1. I suggest Finale Ligure in Italy. Lots of trails, shuttle services and directly at the Mediterranean Sea. Italian Food is also a plus. 🙂

  2. The biggest difference to Canada are the local laws in Europe and that its not so vast. Every square meter belongs to someone and the plots of land are siginfficantly smaller than in Ca. So a trail can cross several properties. If one of the owners doesnt like bikes it is illegal to ride there. For example in Austria its even forbidden to ride on most of the fire/ forestry roads .Therefore most trails apart from bike parks are illegal. So there wont ever be such trails at least in Austria because building and maintaining an illegal trail is illegal. The real good ones are kept a sectet by locals.

  3. Porte de soleil probably. Morzine, chatel, Les gets and a few other bike parks all accessible on the same lift pass, and for the most part you can ride between them too. There are some nice cross country routes too, but they aren’t mapped

Morzine and the whole portes du soleil area has amazing trails outside of the parks. So you can use the whole lift system to link things up.
Does need some solid research, though, but most places will.

It’s also the MTB mecca of Europe, which is either a good or a bad thing. It’s not a quiet spot away from it all.
