Every time I load the crank arm/rotate it, I get this awful clicking sound. I thought it was my bottom bracket to I replaced it with a brand new sram dub and it’s still making this sound. Anyone know? Its a 2024 nukeproof mega carbon
What is this clicking sound coming from my bottom bracket, I just replaced it

Have you adjusted the preload adjuster on your cranks?
check the axle, the derailleur hanger, and the derailleur to hanger screw. take them all off, clean any dirt or grime, re-grease and reassemble. see if that helps. take the chain off and see if you can make the click without any power to the drive train, if that’s the case its something with the crank arms/preload/pedals. if not its probably the things i mentioned first.
Also to be noted, the clicks increase the more power I put in and there’s no clicking when I’m spinning the pedals with no effort
– Could be a tightness issue.
– Could be that you didn’t use a retaining compound if it is a press fit BB.
– Could be a contamination issue, with dirt in the threads or on the press fit surfaces.
– Could be a frame BB area integrity issue? Any cracks or signs of damage?
Does it make the sound if you are out of the saddle? 9/10 times I think it’s the bb it ends up being the seat post.
Loose bottom bracket and not much grease ?
if you bike is lifted and you turn the cranks without using the pedals and it makes no sound, the click might be coming from the bearings inside the pedal… mine do this and no tightening will fix it, I think there’s just an imperfection in the bearings / spinning part of my pedal. I’ll replace the pedals when I’m not feeling lazy.
Could be your pedals
How’s your chain ring look? I had a similar issue on mine turned out my bb was a turn loose. Fixed that which ate some of the noise but it turned out to be my worn front ring had started to shark fin so the chain was actually slipping into the teeth and clicking.
Update: It was my pedals being loose so I wasted money on a new BB. Thanks for all the replies
I spent a long time figuring out that it was actually the rear suspension main pivot bearing not the BB in my case. It didn’t make sense to me as it did not happen when bouncing the suspension moving or not. It only made a noise pedalling under load
