For $50 I went and picked up a bike from Facebook marketplace. I meet up with the guy and he has massive mobility issues and smells horribly off human fences. Has me go into his apartment that also smells so so bad of poo….
So I give him the$50 and leave thinking ok, abandoned bike I'll fix up for a few hours and sell in the spring. Save it from garbage. Anyways, I look up on FB stolen bike group. Find the bike and message the person that I've found their bike.
Tell them I'll fix it up and bring it to them, because it's what I'd want done if I'd had my bike stolen and I volunteer at a bike co-op.
The person offers to pay me the $50 for the bike. I say sure. Then I'm net neutral and I've spent 4 hours repairing the headset, truing the wheels, removing the poop stink, full tune up.
I drop the bike off, she e transfers $54 (I had to put new skewers in cause there's wasn't any and put a functional derailleur on it).
So I drop the bike off, things seem normal then I get banned from the stolen bike group cause the mod thinks I scammed the bike owner? I'm just really frustrated….

Get the owner to message the mod explaining what happened.
It’s sad that doing the right thing is „rewarded“ in such a way.

And I bet the mod got a chubby from that.
I’d steal the mod’s bike.
