This is a tour of the Cable Car in Kotor, Montenegro and riding the Alpine Coaster afterwards. Two of the most scenic rides you can do and will show you how stunning Kotor Bay is. The cable car is 23 euros round trip and the alpine coaster is 8 euros or you can pay 14 euros for the fast line. Which I recommend if the line is very busy.

Here is a short intro to the video. Showcasing some of the stunning views of Kotor Bay Welcome and thanks for joining me on this walking tour of the cable car ride and alpine coaster. The cable car is just next to the Kotor tunnel and about 4kms away from the Old Town. The price for a round trip is 23 euros at the time. The ride is about 11-15 minute and 3.9 kms long. It takes you to Lovcen and provides stunning views of the Bay of Kotor, the Adriatic Sea, and the Montenegrin mountains. It opened in August of 2023 and to be honest I have always thought of it as a tourist trap so avoided it everytime. This year I decided to do it after watching videos of the Alpine Coaster. And I have to admit the cable car only was worth the money. The length is 3.9 kilometers and ascending to 1315 meters. You are treated to the best views of Kotor Bay, the montenegrin mountains and the Adriatic Sea. You can even see the Tivat Airport in the distance. One thing to note is that the cable car does not operate in bad weather. I went there in the morning first to try and beat the crowds but due to the wind it was not running at the time. It did later open around 3pm. Here is when you start to see the famous Kotor Bay that is a world heritage site. Let’s enjoy the rest of the ride and views. Here we are arriving to the top. During my visit here it was very windy and a bit cold for July weather. But we are at a high elevation. This are as you can see has plenty of seating and has stunning views of the Bay. There are a few shops in the area and as well as a few bars/cafes where you can sit and enjoy the views. There are also plenty of hiking areas so if that is something you would like to do and experience the most of Lovcen, I would recommend coming early so you do all the area has to offer. You can also rent bikes or do group tours. Here we are at the starting area with all the shops and the line for the Alpine Coaster. The ticket for the alpine coaster is only 8 euros but as you can see from the line it is worth getting the fast track ticket so you can skip the que. I bought the ticket ahead of time and didn’t get the fast track. I would wait to get the alpine coaster ticket when you arrive there to see if there is a big line or not. If you get the ticket online you can’t upgrade the ticket to a fast track but you can upgrade if you get it at the spot. Parts of the ride is controlled and will slow you down on it’s own but there are also sections where you can adjust your speed, mostly the downhill sections. This made me feel like a kid again and you can hear me laughing/giggling during parts of the ride. Others were as well so I’m glad I wasn’t the only one enjoying the ride. If you come with a small child you are able to ride together in the same cart. Here it is automatically slowing us down and this is just before the best parts of the ride. Unfortunately the ride is short and I wish it lasted longer. But you could also pay for another round. Enjoy the rest of ride and thank you for joining me on this tour! 1. At minute 06:08 you passed over the fortress Gorazde, from 1880's – built by the Austrians. Interesting little side-trip if you are driving up the Serpentine, very moody and evocative. the Alpine Coaster was under construction when we visited – you are SO LUCKY!
