This is the only bike elevator in the world, and you’ll only find it in Tronheim, Norway. The city is built on steep hills. For daily commuters, climbing feels brutal. For older riders or anyone with limited strength, it can be almost impossible. So, the city built something unique, an elevator for bikes. Here’s how it works. Place one foot on a small platform, keep the other steady, press a button, and the lift pushes you uphill. It runs about 5 mph. That’s nearly twice as fast as walking and far less exhausting than pedaling. The ride feels smooth, almost like stepping on an escalator, but with your bike rolling beside you. Since opening, thousands have tried it. What once left people gasping for air now takes just a few minutes. The platform carries riders to the top without a single desperate push. Soon, it became more than transport. It turned into a quirky attraction. Tourists come from all over. Some film every moment, others stand by the roadside to watch, and many line up to try it themselves. So, next time you see a narrow metal track running beside a road in Norway, don’t assume

  1. Fun fact these kinds of things used to be everywhere as a way to drive cable cars. They even used chains to pull barges along in rivers at one point in time. More efficient way to move things. Don't move the whole engine. Just move the weight with mechanical advantage instead.

  2. When your focus as a nation isn't b*mbing the middle east and greed infected capitalism. USA & UK need to take a page of out these guys book.
