That fucking rack holds bikes with hopes and dreams. I always add lashing straps to my racked bikes for this very reason

That’s why you buy a 1up rack. Zero plastic parts on it. All aluminum and stainless steel hardware.
A solid bike rack is not cheap and worth it .

I had this happen on my old car. Totally my fault though.
I was driving a bit… aggressive. On the twisty road. Dragged the rear tire on the ground for a short distance, but no real damage.
Bike rack ended up in the back seat when I was rear ended a couple years later, so I upgraded racks.
Dude my $100 Amazon rack looks way more safe than that thing.

Fuck that. We lost my daughter’s mongoose labor day to a shitty bike rack similar to that one. The only reason my stumpy wasn’t on there was because I was hurt and couldn’t ride. Never again will I go cheap on a bike rack.
