I have the Bontrager Ballistas from 2021(?) and they've been not tightening so I contacted BOA and they sent me a repair kit. But these have internal lacing and BOA nor Bontrager will repair or warranty them. Though Trek did give me a 20% discount on new shoes.
It looks like the plastic coating on the braided wire is stripping and getting caught in the lace channels.
- Has anyone else had this issue?
- What did you do?
It looks like my options either:
- Respool the wire and hope the shoes kinda sorta work.
OR….
- Cut the wire and pull it out and (somehow?) clean the channels and push new wire in, hoping it threads correctly, the issue doesn't repeat and then somehow retie them into the spool and respool them…
