I saw a similar thing where I worked but it why I was cool with it was that the same pedal bikes that were previously being ridden in were still being ridden in but ebikes started to replace cars for some people

A big holdup for riding a bike to work is the sweat factor so ebikes allow you to bike and not get as sweaty

So I have my opinions about eBikes in sports contexts. But for commuting? I’ll get one myself if I get another office job and it’s a marginally bikeable distance from home.
