Old man on an overnight trip from Colcabamba over Punta Union and back. Not a whole lot of pedaling going on, on this route. A lot of pushing and carrying on the ascents and walk arounds on the descents, but all worth it for amazing high altitude slab riding in a remote and beautiful place. The east side of the pass impeticular had some amazing freeriding on slabs. Was able to get off trail for a half mile or more linking slabs together until I got cliffed out. Got a little gripped on some wet slab I didn't recognize. Took a pretty good hipper and walking back to safety in clipless shoes was a little sketch. I could have explored this area all day, as there were endless lines to be had here, but the 16k+ altitude had me feeling my age and limits. Feeling so lucky for this experience. This sort of adventure biking is what mountainbiking is about for me!
