[Applause] Gap growing now to this group again. Roughly 25 seconds between the red jersey group and the Gal group. Edit looks back. He’s got a pedal forward. 7% gradient. Win mostly in his favor. He’s just got to keep this going. How’s it looking in this group, Sean? Well, we can see uh it’s Henley who has continued on to ride on the front there just a moment ago. Uh but uh now he’s come back and uh yeah, it’s Jon as being a go who is uh just rolling it on the front, but nobody putting in the big effort. And we can see Ricatello again. He’s going to put in this attack and Henley is going to follow immediately of course because he’s going to try and mark him. We could tell the attacks he put in. You can see the damage it’s doing. He is so explosive. You know, the lightweight rider, but they they all just uh claw their way back to him and uh again, it’s all back to the same here with the five chasers and 32 seconds as we go inside. 1,200 meters to go for uh the man leading here. And Pelazari looks like the way they’re riding here and marking each other, Pelazari is going to get his stage win. And yeah, the problem is Henley, is he concerned about his teammate here? Uh because Pilazar Pilazar is the next one the general classification and uh yeah you’d expect Henley just to sit back and say okay my man is in front you guys you can take it up here and I’m just going to follow and try and attack maybe in the final as well and see can he just take time from the riders that he need to like uh uh Pitcock for example is he going to put him on the difficulty but it doesn’t look there’s anything between the five chasers here behind this man leading out on the road well no banners no arches is there will be no flam rouge today. The wind has got in the way of that. I can tell you there’s just less than 1 kilometer to go. I think gives it one final shot to get rid of the rest but there’s nothing doing. Couple more twists and turns to come. Pelle is going to take them into the final 800 m with over half a minute of a gap. It’s hairpin city towards the top here. And it’s its newest inhabitant, Julio Pelibal, at 21 years of age, who’s going to be given the keys to it, it seems. It’s been three and a half hours. Yet again, it was full gash from the start. And after so much promise, the near miss at the Gino last year when he just turned up on the scene, beaten by Paul Gacha on that day and almost enjoying himself more for having been beaten and getting everything he got afterwards, the moment, the anecdote. But here at the Builda, his first win looks like it’s going to be a grand tour stage win. Red Bull rode for this and they’re going to get their award. Well, they certainly rode for it and they, you know, set up this man. They’re also setting up Jay Hindley, but this man is going to the one who’s come out of the honors here and uh yeah, we can see here he’s inside the final 500 me to go and we can see the five chasers. They’re still knocking all the time and nobody uh wants him to push on or nobody putting in an attack. Only Ricatello is the one who has been attacking a lot, but he’s been knocked all the time. Another attempt, another try. Gaps have disappeared, but they don’t look to be changing. A reminder bonus, seconds, first, second, and third are 10. Six and four. Almeida Vor and the rest will be thinking of those now. They’re about to come around that final turn where the cars turn off as well. Whereas up ahead, it now should be finish line in sight for Julio Peli. They’re racing each other here. Vingort following Almeida to the front. The red jersey defending today. The white jersey about to climb in the GC in terms of time. It won’t be enough to go beyond his teammate Ji Hindley, but it’ll be a job well done for Red Bull Borah because finally the finish line is in sight. It’s going to be their first stage win at this Espña and they are still in it. A podium place may be in sight. For now though, it’s a crowning moment of a young career. A new Grand Tour stage winning star is born. His name is Julia Pedali. A worst win from a world class field. And look at Tom Pitcock go. Pickot going for bonus seconds. A reminder, third place. And look how well he’s defending it. No bonus seconds crucially for Vigor or Almeida, but it is six bonuses for Pokutk second. Four of them for Hindley who is third and Ricky after trying and trying will lose a few seconds on the finish. It’s a count back now all the way to Felix Gal. Can he hold on to his position in sixth? Nikkello trying to take it to him and move up. The Espña got to the finish on stage 17 of the Alto Morero. Gal losing time as well. Cus coming in in that group and keeping his top 10 place but no change to the lead really for Yulas Vingu. There is a change though in the career trajectory of a young man we’ve talked up and up and now he has gone up and up. It’s Julio Penny. Well, we see that man last year in the Jirro the way he was riding and uh you know he just proved today he’s the quality that can win these big mountain stages and you know what a performance they are to ride away from those guys and you know just to take it on board and go for it so far out but of course yeah Red Bull they had the two men in that group so they were going to play that game and he gets his stage victory but yeah what a battle between the uh the big favorites but not the difference that I was thinking between some of the men at the top of the general classification.

  1. Pro-Hamas protestors are allergic to summit finishes. Pro tip for the 2026 Vuelta organizers: make every stage a summit finish to keep the anti-Israel losers away.

  2. 17 stages I've been waiting for some excitement and yet again its not happening. Why is Jonas not attacking rather than sitting on someone's wheel. Been an absolute yawn all three Grand Tours this year.

  3. Lets be truthful the Italian was allowed to go as he was no threat to the GC so the main riders held their powder for as long as they needed to. Maybe the lad would have been better helping Hindley who was fighting Pidcock but Tom Pidcock beat him and moved further ahead of Hindley

  4. I was really expecting Jonas to put a big gap into Joao today, as these are the types of climbs where the Jonas of a few years ago was able to cook everyone except Pog. I really hope he is not on the decline as he has been pretty inconsistent the whole year.

  5. A non-UAE victory on another kickbutt climb [El Alto de El Morredorro]… to a Dantesque lunar finish? Maybe Tadej's teammates have shot their best bullets. 😂 Jonas doing Jonas things, slightly below his (or my) expectations? Saving that 5% output to be better tomorrow on the flat ITT?
Roglic now has another teammate to fret over 😮 with that amazing effort by Pellizzari(sp?)…

  6. Spain has colossaly failed to conduct a safe Vuelta race. I am reminded of the Palestinian confusion and chaos in the air in 1972 at the Munich Olympics. What's next, Spain? The TDF should certainly cancel Barcelona's participation in the opening 3 stages.. France surely knows how to conduct a safe race.
