Impressionnant Giulio Pellizzari.

The 17th stage of the Vuelta, 143.200 kilometers to go. A relatively short stage, but a particularly muscular finale at the Barco de Valdeorras, heading towards the Alto de El Moridero. The third finish in the history of the Vuelta, the Alto de El Moridero. This is the first time, however, since 2006 that it has happened, and is on the program of the Tour of Spain. That year, Alejandro Valverde beat Carlos Sastre by six seconds. Will there be an explanation between the riders in the general classification, on the eve of the trial near Valladolid, scheduled for tomorrow? That’s the question. What is certain, however, is that a breakaway has just emerged. We don’t yet have the final gap; we’re waiting for it. More than two minutes were announced a few moments ago in favor of the leaders. It came out in two stages. At the front of the race today, we find a strong breakaway with good climbers. The presence of Antonio Tiberi in particular. Riders like Harold Tejada are a French rider; it’s Léandre Lozouet, from the Arkea team, who managed to project himself to the front of the race. The most dangerous in the general classification is not so far away: Harold Tejada, from the XDS Astana team. He is 11 minutes 48 seconds behind. The gap flirted with two minutes, but it quickly fell back below that. The Visma is still controlling the breakaway. We are 39.500 kilometers from the finish. The acceleration of Antonio Tiberi, chased by Harold Tejada. Behind, we try to follow. And the fastest Italian, who doesn’t wait 23 kilometers from the finish, the attack of the leader of the team, Baran Victorius. As soon as the road climbs, we find the same people at the front, the best climbers in this group. Jersey change at the front of the peloton. Two faces. Baran Victorius comes to replace himself. There, I don’t really understand. The Israeli premier tech of Mathieu Riccietello, why not? The UAE, obviously, the Decathlon team of Félix Gall too. It’s really only to protect the leaders. While at the front, it’s still Nico Denz who leads the peloton which is inexorably approaching the junction. We find the Tiberi-Tejada duo who will himself be reviewed by Sergio Samitier. and the attack in front of Sergio Samitier for the Cofidis team. Last attempt. We see that Tiberi Tejada, who were very offensive on the feet, have psychologically given up. Samitier, for his part, said to himself: Come on, I’m going to make one last slog , why not, to go and get the prize for combativeness. Sergio Samitier continues. Sergio Samitier pursuing. And Sérgio Samitier turning around. Twelve kilometers, the end of the breakaway. There’s no one left at the front of the race. It’s a new stage that begins now. The fight for the general classification, we never believed in it. A victory for the front-runners today. It’s off to Giulio Pellizzari, he’s placed in the general classification. He said: I’m going to work for Jai Hindley and we’re parking on Giovanni Aleoti’s side, this big relay. It’s going to be the white jersey’s turn to work with 11 kilometers to go. It’s early. Yes, it’s very early. It shows clearly that on the side of… Félix Gall in difficulty. Already yesterday, Félix Gall, the Austrian, seemed a little less fit. He had lost time. We’ll see if Vingegaard’s form has improved compared to Joao Almeida. While we’re signaling the danger. A fall from a motorcycle. It’s a motorcycle that fell, unfortunately. A motorcycle that ends up on the ground, maybe two of them. It’s Visma, now, who is in control of this Red Jersey group. Change of face. Here is the official foot of the climb. We’re off for the remaining 8.8 kilometers of this 17th stage with an average gradient of 9.5%. Now, we can say it, we’re arriving at the foot with momentum, but it won’t last long. It won’t last. We’ll therefore lose tenth and perhaps sixth place in the general classification. We’re still holding on for Félix Gall. while Ayuso is not present. We remind you, alongside Joao Almeida, the Portuguese will also have to do without the Australian, who is distanced. We’re not going to make a pass. No. On the other hand, everything is going well at Visma, yes, the acceleration of Jai Hindley and Tom Pidcock. No Joao Almeida. Almeida is distanced. Yes, Joao Almeida who cannot respond to this acceleration of Jai Hindley and Tom Pidcock. He turns around a lot. Afterwards, he’s wary of Joao Almeida, who’s used to finishing climbs quickly. He’ll obviously ask Ben Tulet if he can speed you up. Joao Almeida can’t go for it right now. There’s Julio Pelizzari, finished for Seb Kuss, there’s only Ben Tulet left, alongside Jonas Vingegaard. Not for long. He’s flat out. Ben Tulet, at one point, said: I can’t help you any more. Finished for Ben Tulet as well. Who would be four men. It’s Jai Hindley who’s doing the work up front. Jai Hindley who’s leading this group of four. Tom Pidcock, Jonas Vingegaard, Matthew Riccitello, who’s going to have a great run. Matthew Riccitello who can even hope to wear the white jersey tonight, if Pelizzari doesn’t get back in Almeida’s wheel behind. Matthew Riccitello who’s going to pick up the pace. Jai Hindley has been riding in this group for a while now. The young American, Matthew Riccitello, is on the attack. Seventh in the general classification this morning. He has nothing to lose, Matthew Riccitello, there’s a little crosswind on the climb. That’s a disadvantage, obviously, for Almeida compared to Vingegaard, who is a little sheltered there, on the left, while Almeida is in the wind. Vingegaard may have won the stage, honestly. I don’t think it’s still a great Vingegaard because with a great Vingegaard in his high percentages, at one point, he would have tried to attack. We’re in the third week, there’s fatigue. He’s calculating his efforts. That means he’s not worried about the time trial and the time he might lose. Yes. He always remembers, we had the same counterattack two or three years ago. He lost more than 30 seconds to Almeida, almost over the same distance. So, there’s no certainty of seeing a Vingegaard beat Almeida on the time trial. Normally, if he was doing well, he would take advantage of at least the last three or four kilometers to deliver the final blow. It’s Pelizzari who will go for it with four kilometers to go. The attack for the White Jersey that will follow Giulio Pellizzari for the moment, no one, Matthew Riccitello, obviously, the second best young rider in this Vuelta who is going for it. The rider from Team Israel, first tech in pursuit of Giulio Pellizzari Jai Hindley, who is also going for it. Tom Pidcock. Jaoao Almeida, Jonas Vingegaard in the last position. Wouldn’t this be the time for the Dane to counter here? The attack, one more from Pelizzari. Did he see that Riccitello was in the last position of the group? The white jersey is going, Jai Hindley is watching. No one is going for it yet. 3,400 kilometers and it’s the best young rider in this Vuelta who is flying away. Yes, he may not be the strongest, but he took advantage of a marking. He wasn’t followed this time by Riccitello. He’s going to go for it, Riccitello. He’s going to put one behind him. He has no choice. In any case, it’s off to Riccitello. The two men are separated by 32 seconds in this young rider classification . with a white jersey at the end. Go get it in Madrid. That more than limits the damage to the pursuers behind. Riccitello goes for it and inevitably, we’ll follow Tom Pidcock. We’re going into the last three kilometers for the Italian, Giulio Pelizzari. He’s made a small gap. Yes, a nice gap, almost a quarter of a second already in advance. It’s something to look at in the group behind. We’re at a standstill. We’re completely stopped. Yes, that might allow Félix Gall to come back behind for the Décathlon AG2R team, the world champion. The bike that passes. Riccitello, he’s going to put one back in, I think. He’ll feel it coming, Pidcock who’s going to go for it, suddenly. Yes. It’s dignified, this time. Matthew Riccitello who tries to counter. We already have a 25-second lead for Pelizzari. Matthew Riccitello forced to react. Hindley following with Tom Pidcock. That put Félix Gall a little further ahead, with a twenty-five-second lead announced for this man, Gulio Pelizzari. Perhaps 1.5 kilometers away from his first professional victory, all with a distinctive jersey on his shoulders. At 21 years old, for his second Grand Tour of the season. The revival signed by Matthew Riccitello, who hasn’t said his last word. Tom Pidcock forced to react. Hindley too. Marking between Vingegaard and Almeida, who brings up the rear. Thirty-four seconds of lead announced. Yes, it’s confirmed. Behind for the Matthew Riccitello-Vingegaard group, he had made a small wild point a kilometer and a half away and there were indeed 35 seconds. As soon as Matthew Riccitello gets going again, we immediately gain 4 or 5 seconds, but that should do it for the wearer of the White Jersey, who will increase his lead over Matthew Riccitello for the White Jersey. But I think the goal is elsewhere, it’s to achieve a resounding success in a mountain stage of a Grand Tour. He will get closer to Hindley, but in the general classification, we will see the time at the finish, the time bonuses. It’s not the feeling that we can catch up with Pelizzari. No attack from Vingegaard, no attack from Almeida, the top two in the general classification, perhaps the two strongest in the Vuelta, and that will make us happy. The young Italian. He doesn’t seem to be struggling. No. He looks very good. This time, unlike the Giro last year, there will be no Pogacar to come back in the final meters. Giulio Pelizzari will give Italy its first stage victory in this 2025 Vuelta. His third Grand Tour at only 21 years old, the second this season. Giulio Pelizzari will experience immense happiness. Intense joy today. Here at the Alto de El Moredero, entering the legend and winning his first professional victory. The 17th stage of the Vuelta with a white jersey on his back that he will try to take to Madrid. Giulio Pelizzari’s feat, a time distanced after working for Jai Hindley, he took advantage of Joao Almeida’s work to come back. Behind, we will sprint for the bonuses. And second place should go to Tom Pitdock, the Briton, who gives everything in his final meters to grab six bonus seconds. It’s done. Jai Hindley takes third place. We find Jonas Vingegaard and Joao Almeida next. Status co between the leader of the general classification and his runner-up. There will perhaps be a second. Two seconds. For me, there is at least a second, but I think we will put a gap between Vingegaard and Almeida. That way, it will be easier to calculate. It’s 50 seconds, there will be in the general classification, I think, tonight. But yes, we don’t have the feeling that there is a rider above in this Volta. Even Pidcock was able to put a few meters on Jai Hindley to Vingergaard and Almeida in the finale. That’s the standings for this stage won by Gulio Pelizzari. Yes, let’s take stock of the general classification. Félix Gall, it could have been much worse overall. Already, yesterday, a shortened stage, he only lost a minute, it could have been worse. Look, he’s sixth in the general classification. He’s doing very well today. Félix Gall, he had a great climb, even, I want to say. He managed his climb very well. That’s exactly 50 seconds in the general classification between Jonas Vingegaard and and so, he’s not gaining anything at all. 2.28. Yes, yes, he’s making up a tiny bit of time on Hindley, Pelizzari, fifth. That’s the general classification.

    – un bon classique-man
    – un bon coureur de grand tours
    – un bon chrono-man
