Hey, we are in Lucern. Today we are
doing a bike tour around the lake. First we are picking up a friend and
then cycling around 70 kilometers. Along the way we’ll be taking a ferry and
yeah, it’s a stunning day. So let’s go. Roughly 70% of the path is on the road and shared
with vehicles. But this isn’t all heavy traffic. The majority of the road is actually shared
with local roads. So, smaller roads through charming villages. Traffic there is generally
slow and you’ll be cycling alongside cars but in a manageable and pleasant experience.
There are some stretches you’ll find is busier on main roads and in these areas you should be
vigilant as cars will be moving at a higher speed. We crossed the Buochs Airport located on the southern part of the lake Lucerne that is the test airport for Pilatus,
a Swiss aircraft manufacturer. The facility is where they assemble, test
and deliver their planes to customers. It’s a major hub for Swiss aviation and
a significant part of the local economy. We stopped for a coffee in this marvellous view. Super cool!
And we still have another 35 KMs to go. We finished the first beautiful half of
the ride, but to get to the other side, you either have to climb a mountain with
a few hundred meters of elevation or to take a ferry as a shortcut. Since it was a sunny day,
we chose to enjoy the views from the water. The ride on the ferry costed us 12 Swiss Franks each,
including the bike, and it lasted for 20 minutes. The grass here, along the lake, are
commonly known in Switzerland as a “Badi.” They are public bathing spots and an
important part of the Swiss summer. They range from simple, free access
areas to more elaborated facilities with restaurants and toilets, and typically
cost between four and eight Swiss Franks. Amazing. This is the second time we go through this path. It’s cool because you have the perspective
of a cyclist which is completely different than driving. Nice temperature for a cycling day.
How’s the day treating you? Yeah, we can’t complain. Not bad.
Not bad. Very good. Watch out. Amazing day, isn’t it? Yeah, it was beautiful.
Perfect temperature. Was around 24° C. Happy days. This is Lucerne, the old
town of Lucerne. Here on the left, one of the oldest bridges in the world. Let’s call it, oldest bridge in the world, which is beautiful. It’s a wooden bridge and only pedestrians, of course. If you want to experience
the heart of Switzerland, you’ve got to do this tour! It’s a
70 KMs of pure Swiss magic!

  1. I've just watched your videos and they are very engaging. They are all places I haven't been to and I really must think about visiting them!

I'm currently working in Saudi Arabia and missing Europe so much (I'm from the UK) but I do have a Bikepacking trip to Sardinia in just over 2 weeks and will be cycling around the complete coastline.

I'm hoping to get a decent video for my channel but I'm really impressed with your colours. The blues and greens look amazing.

I hope my video turns out as engaging as yours and I wish you well with further videos. Please make more.
