I would like to thank the creators and veterans of r/xbiking for showing me the endless opportunities that the world of xbixing is. The passion and knowledge I have received from people here has been invaluable to me and has helped me find a new hobby; my shed is now my personal "bike shop" and my favourite room in the house.

I spent two months in rehabilitation for drugs and alcohol at the beginning of this year. I am now six months drug free yet I still struggle with alcohol use. Going forward I'm putting the world of cycling and bike building as my primary alternative to drinking. I feel more committed to sobriety today than I have in the last year and I thank r/xbixing for being part of my recovery journey.

Enjoy the ride 🙏🏼

  1. I’ve been following this sub since before lockdown, and it’s always so cool to hear inspirational stories from other members! Best of luck in your journey!

Edit – yes it is all about the bikes (talismans, smart wrenching and good choices – rip otterland), but sometimes it’s the posts about what the bikes do for people that are the best thing about this sub

  2. Good luck in your journey, and I agree this is a great sub and community and the amount of knowledge kicking around in here is ridiculous.

Also go buy yourself a bunch of Paul, White Industries, and Chris King parts and you won’t be able to afford your prior vices <chortle chortle>…

  3. Hell yeah ! Keep it up man.

And indeed thanks to everyone involved here. I’m also learning everyday and super grateful for it.
