Cues crank set doesn't fit! Is it defective? Where did I go wrong?
I bought a new Cannondale Badboy 3 (latest version) 2×8 microshift Shimano Tourney crankset 68mm square taper BB I measure 150mm rear OLD (surprised me)
So I decide to upgrade to 2×10
I buy/install 10 speed cassette XT front derailleur Deore rear derailleur and shifters and 10 speed chain. I set it up and it works fine really good actually. So I decide to upgrade the crankset and run into my problem!
Old crankset Tourney 170mm FC TY501 square taper
New crankset Cues 165mm FC U60302 HOLLOWTECH II
New BB Shimano BB-MT801
I install the new BB with 2 spacers drive side and 1 spacer left side
I install the 1 piece drive side crank/spindle and I notice I only have about 3.5mm clearence between the crank and chainstay (seems kind of close)
But the problem is that the spindle seems to short and doesn't extend past the BB far enough. When I install the left side crank arm I only get about 5mm of spline engagement. The threaded end cap doesn't even contact the spindle threads.
How can this be? It's a 68mm bottom bracket.
