There was a discussion here on the old Corsa’s with mixed reception. I know they’re delicate compared to the Rubinos I’m running now, but are they do delicate that it’d be silly to run on a fixed gear in the city? I’m not out there skidding all over the place, but I do skip the wheel at low speed fairly often to keep the pedals at 3 and 9.

I mean if you’re planning on racing a crit or something with them sure, but they’re $112 tires. Just kinda overkill for street use, at least for fixed gear
I ran the Bontrager R4 which is made by Vittora and it did not hold up.
i run corsa pros on my road bike for racing. they do not hold up. i have them set up tubeless, and they are the most flat-prone tyres i’ve ever run (aside from the corsa pro speed, which lasted <1 month before the tread delaminated). but i hate gp5ks, so i still run the corsas because they’re supple and have low rolling resistance. i use controls for the winter/wet season or if i’m not racing much, and they seem to hold up a bit better. i also get a discount via my team, so i’m not paying retail for them.
that said: i would not run them as a rear tyre on a fixed gear. the tread is really thin, and i don’t think they’d last long at all.
I would “run” them.
😊
Shop Vittoria during Black Friday for good deals.
I recommend s-works mondo 28c or bigger if it fits the frame/fork. Great traction and grip.
I do run corsa’s ( not pros) on two other bikes and I’m a fan of Contis 5000 and Gravelkings slicks. Used to be able to find the GKs in 32c.
I’m was looking at these too!
Noisy, slower than GP5K, super conducive for introducing glass & car-tire-wire to a tube.
I’d probably use them if they were $10.
I’ve been using these since they came out on my daily // they’re definitely a bit more durable than the OGs – I have about 2k miles on them and no flats or anything. I also rarely skid, so I probably get way more use out of them than most ppl on this sub.
I’ve done a race on them in the rain and they really hold up well – the only tire that I’ve experienced better grip esp in cornering are the veloflex corsa’s. If you have the money, and don’t skid, then go for it. But I wouldn’t buy these if you even remotely skid a lot.
Gatorskins for urban.
Run one on the front with something sturdy in the back
They’re a race tyre. You can use them for street riding but be prepared for expensive disappointment.
I raced on a pair after I couldn’t get conti competitions. Two flats in less than 200 miles
Sure they are fast and ride nice, but you will burn a hole in them quick riding fixed. If you have the money and like rotating your tires often go for it.
On road bike they’re lovely. I put many miles on a pair including city riding. Can’t recall if I ever got a flat, if I did they at least weren’t constant.
I wouldn’t let these touch my fixed gear bike. Although I ride brakeless so maybe your tolerance for having flats and burning through tires is higher.
28mm gatorskin black editions for me.. got another fresh set in my inventory waiting.. if it ain’t broke don’t fix it I guess
I love Vittoria tires. Particularly the Evo.
Tip: If you like supple tires and hate flats, try tubes with removable cores and fill them with an ounce of Stans mixed with fine glitter. Skidding excessively will wear these quicker sure, but at least having puncture protection is an option.
Will caution that you need to replace the Stans every once in a while, especially when a tire sits idle. The sealant will settle and it feels weird.
