I have a solid American flag (IDK, about 4” x 7” I guess) attached to my rear rack, sticking out the street side for the same reason. I figure it might confuse the small minded for just a second to make them think about it.

I put ~~truck nuts~~ “Bike Balls” on my bike and instantly noticed less rage from pickup truck drivers lol. They think I’m one of them!
