From my experience, I would c

Jsay fresh tires and saddle, as well as new brake pads I’m

I’d ride with that saddle a couple of times, just for the late-80s flashback, then put something else on.

I’d get another crankset also, not 1x like others have said, maybe a nice Sakae SX or CX 2x or 3x if I could get one cheep.

I’d raise the seat post to optimize your pedaling power/riding position. A comfortable saddle would probably be the most important upgrade. Some new pedals would be a worthwhile upgrade as well(mks pedals have smooth bearings and would match the retro vibe) Switching to V brakes would give you better stopping power. If the current drivetrain runs smooth and doesn’t have too much wear I’d just keep it unless you really want to spend the money on something new. All in all it looks like a cool bike. Definitely worth giving some TLC.

Would deffos start at the saddle, but personally I would only change cable and brake blocks.

I see zero need in changing any other aspect of the bike.

I don’t know… I’d ride out just like that until I had to have some flatter bars and a more streamline saddle_that’s it for me. Cool Fuji
