Hi, beginner here. Realized there are some kind of deep scratches (can feel groove of the scratch) near the chain stay after two rides with my new Rockhopper Sport. The two rides were done mainly on paved and gravel roads, no crashes or jumps as well, nor did I feel anything rubbing against the chain stay. Now I will admit I did not check the bike carefully when purchasing it, but judging from the second photo (taken in the shop) it does not seem like the scratches were present.
Now I guess my question is do you think these scratches can be caused by riding casually? If it is really the shop’s fault is there I anything I can still do? (given that I purchased the bike just over a month ago, and haven’t rode it after the first two rides after sustaining a wrist injury)
