Just got the bike two weeks ago, only ridden three or four times. Last night went out for a quick 30 minute pedal and heard a snap and the bike went super wobbly. Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty? No crashes, no impacts.

Metarial failure should be covered but I can’t imagine how would carbon fail like this without any impacts first
JRA……
Nope, it’s a good thing you came here to ask before wasting your time submitting a warranty claim.
(I’m kidding; but seriously, what made you think Reddit would be a better place to ask than just contacting the manufacturer?)
With no crash it’s definitely a warranty. The shop you bought it from should have you up and running again in less than a week of you or them fill out the warranty form ASAP. DM me if you need any other help
You’d have to ask Pivot
Definitely contact pivot through a dealer, but man… there is no way that wasn’t an impact. 🤷♂️
Maybe you kicked up a rock and didn’t notice? It’s under the chainstay right?
I would temper my expectations for a crash replacement, not necessarily a warranty. I’m sure Pivot will be cool and do their best to help you out. Most bike companies and shops are just trying to get you back on the bike.
But be honest about what happened with them. Even if it’s truthfully what happened, “I was just riding along and suddenly it snapped… 🤷♂️” is the oldest story in the book. Nobody believes it.
Good luck out there! Hope you get back on the trails ASAP!
Ouch. Definitely could just be a manufacturing defect that didn’t get caught or wasn’t visible. I’m betting pivot will step up and do something for you
That’s not broken, that’s SHATTERED! 😳
Once someone told me that if you never broke a frame, than you’re not riding hard enough.
Well, congratulations!
Bummer though.
Hopefully the warrant process goes smooth for you.
Pivot warranty person here. Not covered due to the black rubber thing covering that area. Rubber emits a toxic gas that makes the frame material weaker. I’ve sent these pictires to my boss so you will be denied warranty if you send a claim in.
Nah this is normal for a pivot frame , that’s why they are called pivots . They create new pivot points every ride.
I’ve seen similar failure attributed to rear tires getting air, applying brakes, and landing while brakes engaged.
Edit: never mind saw that it’s opposite chain stay with brakes.
I always ask Reddit about warranty info instead of going to the shop where I purchased it or contacting the manufacturer.
But seriously… looks like an impact from above and the chain stay hid it. Probably during shipping to the original bike shop and/or to you. You rode it a few times and it finally gave way.
Why I don’t trust carbon fiber…. Warranty should cover it.
That looks like it’s the right length away for it to be caused by the cage of the derailleur getting pulled forwards and up into the chainstay. Not going to be warranty I’m afraid.
That sucks, I know the feeling. Clearly caused by an impact tho…you never know what they’ll cover til you ask. I would imagine you get some kind of a discount on replacement rear triangle under “crash replacement”
