Throwback to my 200km attempt to ride home from London to avoid paying stupid train prices
#cycling #training #endurance

as a protest against the insane price of trains last year I attempted the stupid ride back from London to Nottingham at around 200 kilomet it would be have completed my longest ever Road ride there is absolutely no chance that I would choose to do a ride like this on a normal weekend but it was actually a good way to coax myself into doing something hard anyway after strapping a load of food onto the bike I headed north out of London and you could see at this point I was loving my decision but it would get worse molon Kings was by far the worst part of the journey the supposedly smooth cycle pass were rutted trails that would have been uncomfortable even on a gravel bike I tried to keep my pace and Power in the low Zone 2 but despite my best efforts around 110 km I hit a massive Bonk I needed some food but if you’ve ever bonked you’ll know that at this point it’s too late and even facing food was a challenge after a very low point of aimlessly wandering around SS breze and Lyra with my bike and Tow I managed to St like a plum and some crisp somewhat fuel to hit the last 90k north of Northampton bit of a tongue twister the terrain became a bit more undulating I’ll be honest all I could do at this point was grin and bear it for the next few hours and just when I started to get excited about the prospect of actually completing the stupid ride the heavens open thunder lightning and an unbelievable amount of rain you couldn’t write it but we dawned the jacket and pushed on to the end my longest road ride and 130 quid in the bank

  1. I can’t wait to purchase my first road bike im 38 and rode bmx and downhill since I was 12/13 my bones refuse to heal as quick anymore. I absolutely adore riding bikes and am no where near ready to give up riding so a road bike is the next step. Plus there’s loads of nice back roads around Nottingham and Derbyshire
