I crashed my bike and I think the chain ripped up the chain stay. It went through the paint and maybe the first layer of carbon (if that’s how carbon works). But idk maybe it’s just the gel. Sorry I reposted this because I accidentally deleted the pics on my old post. Thank you for your feedback. It held up for the remaining 30-40 miles of the ride.

  1. It’s a bad place or your frame to break because it’s a load bearing part. Take it to a carbon repair expert and let them assess the damage and if it’s feasible to repair.

  2. It’ll probably be $250-300 if in the US to repair a carbon chainstay with no paint. I’m not sure it’s worth it to repair an old rim-brake Cervelo S3 frame considering the labor cost in stripping it down + repair cost + rebuild cost. You could well end up paying ~$700-900 all-in depending on where you live.

I also don’t think the chain did that to your chainstay, it was overstressed at the moment of impact and buckled. Or you landed really, really hard on it.

Not totaled but def needs to be taken for repair. You put a lot of weight on that part especially climbing and digging in
