Have you ever stood in line in the rain for hours, probably since 4:00 a.m., just to get a free bucket? No? Well, Finland can’t relate. Vto. Because in Finland, when a new store opens or when anyone really want people to attend an event, free buckets are often given away as a thanks for showing up. And hundreds of Fins will happily wait in line just to get their free bucket. Granted, sometimes the buckets have a few goodies in them, but a lot of the time is just a normal empty €2 a piece bucket. Illman and M, buddy. Yeah. Why the Finn love a good bucket stem from the great bucket shortage of 1842, also known as Empire Aika in Finnish. During that year, the bucket production came to a halt, causing the bucket prices to skyrocket. Much time later in 1974, a store offered free buckets as an opening gift. When hundreds of Fins showed up in line, the media became involved and it has since then been a running joke for the Finnish people. Here’s some everyday examples. Free bucket if you attend store opening. Free bucket if you fill it with fruit. Free bucket if you buy six beers. free bucket for your dog at the Ritz opening in this Finnish city. They’ve even given free buckets to people who took the vaccine. It was highly effective. Also, this is how you save someone with your bucket. Sincerely, your insurance company. So, if a Finn ever asks you if the bucket is half full or half empty, you answer, “I don’t care. It’s free.

I also like free buckets, the difference being that in the US we get them in about 18.9 liter size. So bigger.😂
Bro mä olin yhessä kuvassa
Finn bucked list…free buced😂
And I thought 2 buckets for filling my aquariums was a lot of buckets.
I am not Finnish, but I would be very pleased with a free bucket.
Buckets are handy, you can e.g. store buckets in them.
Corona beer 🤟🏻🇲🇽
I happily accept all unbroken and clean containers. So useful.
I would stand in line in a freaking hurricane for a free bucket.
That's funny 😂😂😂
Dd I just watch a short about why Finn love free buckets and their history?
Yes.
Do I now fancy a free bucket as well?
Yes…
Well? Everyone knows, that before God created universe, he created bucket to hold his universe creation instruments!? So you could say that every bucket is centerpoint of universe, and rest of it wraps around it!
And theres weirder things in world than just our bucket fetish? As I heard that in England people are willing to PAY to go watch for couple of hours while 2 groups of people try to deliver some sort of airfilled pig bladder on other side of the grass field between some weird net structure!? How bizarre is THAT!?
As the Swedish saying goes Gratis är gott.
It's 99,99 % a joke by now and people do it as an iconic joke, so it does work 😆🤣
I grew up in a family of farmers in the States. We always needed more buckets. We would have had the whole family at the grand opening to score some buckets. I'm trying to admire and not be jealous of this quirk Finland. ❤😂
honestly that's so great
💯
So many uses for them
For water
For carrying stuff
For storage
A centrepiece in your home
Put some flowers in your ämpäri if you wanna be fancy
Wear as a hat protects you from rain
From seeing other people and eye contact too
I'm German and all my buckets are give aways from one store or another. Either I got them at a store opening (obi, they are of really good quality) or with fruit (oranges at Netto and Kaufland, quality not too good though).
New bucket list item, visit Finland and see how many buckets i can acquire while on my holiday! 😂❤
im not finnish but i loves me a good bucket. Just bought a bucket of blueberries and i'm real excited to reuse the bucket, some hard to find a good berry bucket around here
As a finn i can hear the call of the free backet
