Found these jumps in Albuquerque. I did the first couple but this trail is so loose like sand and pebbles (desert). There is a set of bigger ones next to this like 5’ or 6’ high. How do I hit them? I am alone so I don’t know the speed? This is obviously a local built line and is definitely not taken care of, it’s also super fast for how loose it is.. any advice? I just started mountain biking in my 30’s a month ago and really want to get better

Good job! Repetition on the same jumps and then move up to bigger ones as your confidence increases.

  2. Instead of just going fast and riding over the jump focus on slowing down and using your arms and legs to generate some pop. Like jumping on a trampoline it’s about pushing against the trampoline at the right time, if you just let your legs bend you won’t be able to get much height and it will make you feel not in control in the air. Looks like you slid out because you cut the inside of the corner where it’s off-camber and loose instead of staying on the line

Get knee pads. They’ll make life sooo much better. You can aim for them in a crash to take the initial hit, and save your hands. Plus, you’ll save your knees when you crash anyway.

  4. Keep your eyes out for mobile meth labs in that area…wouldn’t want to end up like el torta 😉
