I’ve done maybe 4 rides with my new Rapha Pro Team Training Bib Shorts (size Large), and I’ve noticed the stitching starting to come off at the front. I actually had the exact same problem in the same spot with a previous pair, which I ended up returning.
For comparison, I’ve been using a pair of Pedal Mafia bib shorts for about 3 months now and haven’t had any issues with the stitching at all.
Is this kind of wear normal for Rapha bibs, or am I just unlucky with faulty pairs?

I have come to realize the Rapha shorts are shit. I’ve owned a few and they all prematurely frayed and the chamois all went uncomfy way too soon.
They are too expensive, but I only buy Cafe du Cycliste now and my ass is happy that I let them rob me.
(And don’t get me started with maap, at least I haven’t spent any money because they keep refunding and not asking for their product back)
it isn’t related to the bibs. It comes from the zipper of your jersey: the zipper has a retainer box at the bottom and tape on either side. The bottom of the tape is often very hard, the friction on the bibs causes it to fray. Some jerseys have the bottom of the zipper inset a little way so that it doesn’t rub
