I had my bike packed recently and I’m trying to reassembly but my wires look off and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ve reassembled a packed bike before so I didn’t think I’d experience any issues but this time around TSA opened the box and it didn’t seem like they touched anything because the cardboard and foam for protecting the gears, wheels, etc was in-tact. I think this is probably a simple fix but I have no experience working with gears and wires so I don’t want to be hasty and do anything to it right now.

But as you can see in the pictures two of the wires are very loose and are these two circular things that I think are supposed to be tightened and attached somewhere but I’m not sure where.

The ends of the housing are supposed to be held by down tube cable stops, i.e. you’re missing a part that should be attached to the post sticking out of the down tube.

  2. Your cable ends are not properly sitting in the cable stops. The black sheathing slides into the opening of the pieces that are loose, and should be attached to the two metal studs close to where the black sheathing ends. Be sure it’s also seated properly at the shifters themselves.
