Hello. I’m building a touring bike and can’t found the shifter I want for 8s, only for 9s. I don’t have preference between 3×8 and 3×9. The crankset is a MTB 3x chainring Shimano FC-M361 42/32/22t. I’m considering installing a 9s cassette. Any experience with this combination? Do you think this would work?

Yes- it should work you can always reference the compatibility chart on si.shimano.com to be absolutely certain though
