[Music] Welcome to highlights of stage 12 of Lavoa a EspΓ±a starting in Laredo destination Los Carales dea all smiles at the start pensive perhaps it’s going to be an action-packed day signing autographs Jonas Vingo at the start line and all of our jersey wearers in the neutral zone looking Matts Pedison with eyes on more points. There’s the profile of the stage. 144.9 km. Two categorized climbs along the way. The Pto de Alissas and the Colada de Brnees. The Colada de Brnees been the last of the climbs topping out with 22.9 km to go. It was to be fast, furious, and action-packed as you would expect. A possible chance for the breakaway. And in the opening kilometers, it was the man in green, the irrepressible Mads Pison who went on the offensive with the likes of Stefan Kung, Magnus Sheffield also there. Very high average speeds and no breakaway leading in to the lower slopes of the opening climb of the day. The Puerto de Alissas Januso already a stage winner in this race. No GC hopes, but certainly eyeing another stage win. Lit up the climb on the lower slopes and drew the sting from a lot of other riders. interesting in infiltrating this breakaway. There was a slight coming together with 1300 meters to go. Only two riders actually foring but that actually meant that Mistar took the advantage over the top. Also Marx taking maximum points at top the climb just ahead of Javier Romo. Keeping control and a little bit of order behind though was team Vizma Lisa Bike looking after the interests of the man in red Yonas Vingo that also put a man in the breakaway Victor Campon Arts as Yasper Philipsson had a relatively steady day. There were lots of riders up the front. A little counterattack that eventually joined the front group containing Mads Pison meant we had 52 riders out in front. Santiago Burago also there in the mix as well for Bahrain. And this was the moment that the junction was made. The gap at this point to the Pelaton behind with Morivan Seven just at the back was 2 minutes. Then we had a big attack from Ivan Garcia Cortina Mobstar with the luxury position of actually having five men in the break. He sought an early bid. Meanwhile, just behind it was Victor Campernards having conversation with Bruno Amirai who was in fact the best placed rider in that group. Eventually with 50ks to go a solo effort from Garcia Cortino was caught and it was several attacks that went clear. His teammate in fact Romo started to attack flanked immediately by the man in green eyeing the intermediate sprint at 41ks to go. Mads Pedison and it was indeed the Great Dane that took maximum points at the sprint point. In fact, he continued his effort in an effort to try and go clear too. So mission accomplished part one for Matts Pedison. 20 points in the bag just ahead of Aparitio and Christian there. So extending his lead in the points over Ethan Vernon now 155 points to the good. The gap to the Pelaton now a distant 5 minutes on the approach to the final climb of the day. It was five riders that went clear. Magnus Chevroinos Finley Pickering of Bahrain Michael Hesman was there of Mauvestar. James Shaw of EF also joining them. Victor Gernle of Aaya and Bri Rolando of FDA on the steep thin lower slopes of the climb. Meanwhile, the pacemaking was being set behind by irreressible Mark Soler. Matt Penderson at this point starting to struggle. James Shaw looking good. The Brit out in front with fellow Brit Finley Pickering of Bahrain. But this was the moment that the front of the race changed. Marker perfectly setting up his teammate Juan Ouso. But with him for company was Javier Romo. Looking good. And also up there holding on from the earlier move was Bork Roland. Taking maximum points over the top was Javier Romo. At this point they had a 37sec advantage over the chaser and the Pelaton now a distant 5 minutes and 47 seconds behind as they commenced the descent. The original break was fractured all over the place. Marker on pleasing duties at the back of this counter track. Rolan on his own and incredibly mad Pison from being distance on the climb went straight over the top and actually joined the second group on the road. Meanwhile, there was a little bit of a lack of cohesion behind Juan Aauso playing a real tactical dame with Jav Romo. Victor Campon also went clear, but coming into the final kilometer, it was Auso versus Romo. It is Javier Romo who goes, Javier Romo who kicks, but Hana Yuso explodes here to the front. Juanayo has the beating of Javier Romo. Resistance cracked already and he’s done it again. Congratulations all round for Juan Ausso. Receiving a hug there from Mark Solah who helped set him up. Five wins for the team, but a fine third place for Bio Rolon of FDA. Fourth there to Victor Campernon of Vismaike. And another performance of excellent proportions from Mads Pedison home there in fifth place. Meanwhile, the Bees led home the man in the red jersey, Yonas Fingo comfortable and looking calm ahead of a big day on stage 13. Ben Tullet and Sepkus and Mateo Jorgensson ensuring he lives to fight another day in the red jersey along with all of the main GC contenders. So delight all around but frustration for Javier Romo. Five men in the move for Mauvestar, what they could do nothing about. An absolutely flying Juan Auso who finished it off well with the precision of an assassin. There’s the win. Are you ahead of Romo? Then we have Roland Camparts, Pison Dens, House Buo, Baloki, and Castrio. Did you know that you would be better than Ravia Romo for the sprint? Yeah, but after such a hard day, you you don’t know and I have to play my cards. Uh you know, I had to put him also a bit nervous uh and play the final case. Uh saying that I already won the stage and he had to pull more if he wanted to to arrive. It’s not something I really enjoy to to play a bit like uh yeah not cooperating fully but uh sometimes you have to play smart and and that’s what I did in the final and yeah this reading tactical hand certainly reaped dividends but Jesus finger goat still ahead of the GC rankings nothing’s changed there al second and pigcock in third pelazari in the best young riders there rounding out the top 10 so all smiles holes for the Dane. A relatively calm day for him, but a massive day on stage 13. Bit of a change in the classification for Mads Pedison. He basically extended his lead over Ethan Vernon and now enjoys a distinct advantage. A big smile around not just maximum points on the intermediate sprint, but fifth on the stage. He’s got to be very happy with that. No change in the King of Mountains jersey. That’s still on the shoulders of Jvine, but Juan Auso has closed the gap ever so slightly. So, big smiles there. Big job for this man to do as well, looking after Joel Almeida on stage 13. Let’s have a look ahead to what will be a pivotal stage. That is for sure. It’s a long one as well. 202 km from Cababzon Dasal to the mighty Langlu. And there’s the profile. A flat first half and then the best part of 4,000 m packed in to the final 60 km. Do not miss it.

Why does he keep saying vingego? Is that how his name is actually said?
Nice seating in the wheel, Ayuso. Pretty much easy for anyone to win like that
Torstein TrΓ¦en still going strongβ€π³π΄
Glad to see that the pro-Hamas protestors (i.e., communists) got out of the way at today's finish line.
Felt bad for the Movistar rider but he got out played for the finish.
Typical Juan man show
I hope tomorrow is "pivotal". We're well into the second week now and it seems like there's been very few significant GC days.
What a gay sport. Real men EAT WAFFLES.
Such a great recap – thank you Matt Stevens and the whole team!
I feel sorry for Romo
I'm glad that every rider made it into the finish safely. I hope that the Vuelta will stay a sports event from now on.

Cycling is such a weird sport, 52 riders ahead in the Vuelta isn't IMHO a breakaway, it's a split in the bunch between those with an interest in the stage win and those without. Nothing in theory to stop say Gioconne or Hindley getting 4 minutes up the road today, except the unwritten rules of 'we'll shut this thing down if you do.'
dude u cant say Ayuso is out of shape when he wins so often….soler, ayuso, vine all got to go, they are not team plyers
Still missing ITV coverage.
2:58 The Great Dane?? Woof woof!
Soler the perfect tactician πβ€
Victor Campenaerts, one of my favourite riders in the peloton.
Good job Spain for controlling the hooligans.
The world will be a better place if we can just keep our political belief to ourselves.
Tomorrow looks brutal. I wish I could watch it on TV! I'll just need to wait for TNT to throw some me scraps.
Matt Stephens doing the highlights? Yes please.
Hard to like this from Ayuso. A proper athlete who deliberately games the system wherever possible to pick up the easiest possible wins against the lightest competition.
Tomorrow looks promising, can't wait.
Vamos João! A força dos portugueses estÑ contigo!
Ayuda made too much enemies in the peloton
Stage win has higher possibility over GC ambition.
I donβt like Ayuso, but I kind of feel sorry for him in this Vuelta. He is talented and will do better in the next team!
βThe man in the red jersey: Jonas Vingagoβ errβ¦ nope Matt try again.
Matt Stephens is a lovely guy but why does he choose to reinvent the pronunciation of EVERYTHING
vingeGAARD
Tomorrow will be epic
why is the Hezbollah, Hamas, Gaza, & Palestinians not in Gaza feeding those children rather than protesting at a sports event in Spain?! it appears that those protesters/disrupters don't care about those little children in Gaza.
Ayuso rode on Romo's wheel, is that the person challenging Pogacar?π Let's see tomorrow….
