    This has been fine for weeks with skids and bunny hopping up and off of gutters. I dont think id 100% trust it without the chain tensioners that push against the axle.

      I rounded off the hex bolt for this surly hub and all I had on hand was this quick release and I had to ride to work but its been holding up well enough i haven’t bothered to fix it. It would be cool for a dingle speed setup but its so tight I have to lever it open with a wrench so may as well do it the right way and carry the wrench…

      sheldon says its fine and sheldon is truth but he wasn’t riding brakeless and I doubt he was whipping sick skids

      I would have no issue running a cam style QR skewer on my SO-EZ. I ran Pinhead QR’s without chain tensioners for about a month with no issues. Currently still rocking them, but with some chain tugs to dial in the chain tension.

      As long as its got a chain tensioner on both sides this is 100% fine.

      Everyone who hates on QRs has never used a decent one…i can guarantee people were ripping much bigger jumps on MTBs with QRs than you’ll ever do on a fixie.

      It has chain tensioner, you are fine
      When skidding or braking, the wheel _can_go back a little. Make a mark with a marker on your frame to see if it does. If it does, retighten it. 
      Check it after every ride please. I’m sure you want all your teeth. Teeth are expensive.

      If you can get the quick release skewer tight enough, it shouldn’t matter really. Wouldn’t trust the chain tensioners as back up though, those bend a lot easier than you’d think

      honestly I still have the hex bolts on my surly hub and it’s moved twice on me now (both times on very steep dirt climbs so take that with a grain of salt) so at this point… sure. Why not

      I’d be willing to bet the tensioners are doing most of the heavy lifting here. Still, if it’s working for you, cool.
