This bike isn’t quite as bling as the 3Rensho, but I’m still awfully fond of it. It’s a Gazelle Champion Mondial AA-Super, which means it has wishbone seatstays and an indentation on the seat tube to let the rear wheel in nice and close. Constructed from Reynolds 531c. I don’t know why, exactly, but I have a real soft spot for 531.

It’s built with 600 tri-color, except the front derailleur and the shifters. Tri-color FDs are designed in a way that causes the arm the cable pulls on to not clear the tire — such are the perils of the extremely short rear triangles. The bars are Deda Piegas, the first 26mm compact drops I was aware of. If I were to build it again, I’d use Nitto M151s.

I was largely unable to ride for the first half of the year because of what I think was long covid (which: not recommended), so it’s been really encouraging to have my fitness finally coming back enough for me to do the 38 miles round trip to this dam and back these last couple of weekends. I have several bikes that want to be ridden, so I hope you all can put up with seeing them posted here from time to time.
