So for a long time I'm hesitating to start with this frame, now I want to do it.

Within the time I became fan of the concept "beausage" (used beauty), I think I skipped the idea of restoring the original paint partly. Or should I…?! A new colour for the complete frame is no option, as I want to keep the original style. This frame has been used and it is OK that you can see that. Still, I'd like to preserve.

I have Owatrol Oil, some Hammerlite as another option, sandpaper and a box with a grinding machine for model-making that I haven't worked/operated once (so no experience).

If I remember correctly, Owatrol changes the colour to black. Which would be OK on the grey parts. Maybe black spots on grey, white nail colour on that one spot of the headset? Or just seal the rust on the grey parts?

How would you deal with this? What are your experiences? Any tips? I'm in limbo; even though I watched several videos and websites.

TIA!

I’d clean off surface rust gently and oil the spots, no sanding, no touch ups, just preservation
Edit: oil the inside too when you have it dissasembled

  2. The Owatrol I have neutralises the rust and paints over clear, I would suggest first lightly cleaning off any surface rust with a hard bristled brush and some penetrating spray. Then degrease the area and paint over with the owatrol oil. This would be keeping with that “beausage” philosophy you have became a fan of

  3. Use a rust converter and wear the black spots as battle scars. I would only touch up the white primer on the grey stays, but let the metal show.
