You can get that out, it doesn’t have to be the end for this bike.

The part on the frame the bolt is broken off into is called the bottom bracket. The part the pedal is attached to is called the crank arm. Those are what’s known as 3 piece cranks. That one bolt can be extracted and replaced fairly cheaply and easily. If you’re not the DIY type your local bike shop should be able to get that fixed for you for a few bucks. Definitely not a fatal malfunction for this bike.

You should be able to push the axle through. Measure it and get a new one. They usually come with side bolts.
This happened because your crank arm clamping bolts were loose. So make sure you do those up properly when you install the new one.
