Hi folks. I built up my Ritchey Ascent earlier this year with the intention of using it for adventure/bikepacking. I haven’t had the opportunity to take it on any trips yet, so I’ve mainly been taking it on various trails around the SF Bay Area and it’s been great so far. It seems to be a comfortable and capable bike on dirt and gravel. However, I’d like to incorporate more pavement into my rides and this build feels sluggish. For context, I’m currently running a 27.5″ Hunt Trail Wide (30mm internal width) wheelset with UD Mars Race tires.
Rather than swap tires every time I want to do a more road-oriented route, I would like the option to swap wheels instead. This frame utilizes boost spacing so I can’t purchase any off the shelf gravel wheelsets. What are some wheelsets that I should consider? Budget is up to $1k USD. (Note, I’m not trying to win any races. I’d just like the convenience of swapping out wheelsets to suit my need at the time)
