I headed out to watch a stage 4 of La Vuelta a España and caught the pros flying past at insane speeds, which was incredible to watch. Then it was my turn to ride up the legendary Alpe d’Huez, where I cought up with Oli, a chap I’d met through Instagram who runs a cycling boutique hotel here in France.
It was the perfect chance to spin up Alpe d’Huez, chat along the way, and then take one of the lesser-ridden descents on the other side. 30 days……. proper looking forward to my second visit to this valley at the end of Sept. Gonna try and ride some of the lesser known stuff as done the obvious big five climbs. Possible to get above 2000m with a road bike in this valley on climbs never been in the TDF. One of them right on the doorstep of where you stayed!

Incredible. That guy shocked me when he said he is 57. He looks more than a decade older than me at 55. I would tip his to be 70, comparing to myself. Girls who fancy me are usually around 22 years old. I don't know if this is down to me always keeping up a training regimen, the fact that I almost always only eat organic, or it mostly genetic (my grandmother lived to be a 100 years) but the difference is shocking to me.
