I ride with both back pack and rack/panniers. I don’t feel secure having my phone wallet, keys in my panniers since anyone can just grab them while I am stopped at red light. With a backpack they will have to rip me off my bike.
As it’s the rainy season here in the Philippines, the first thought I had was “If it were me, I’d need a raincover or a dry bag to keep my stuff dry.”
