Go to a bike shop and ask if they can put together a rear wheel with a shimano nexus hub.. If you like the frame enough.

In Australia, we used to call a basic like this a treadlie, aka the deadlie treadlie.

  3. If you like this bike, why not just modify it? It would have originally been a 2×6, the single speed it has isn’t original.

Get a narrow-wide front chainring, and a matching set of rear derailleur, thumb shifter, and wheel that will work. This bike probably originally had 126mm rear spacing but you can probably spread it to accept a 130.

  4. Converted single speed. You’d want a new neck for more upright posture, but riding one in that size might be difficult. Honestly with the time/money I would just find a new bike with gears and riding position you like..
