Hi all – I was just in the process of cleaning my (old, second-hand) bike frame a bit, when I noticed the axis of the back wheel is not installed at the back of the frame dropouts. I suspect it's done like this by the mechanic who installed the rear light, as there didn't seem to be enough space.
As an experienced bike user but a very inexperienced bike mechanic, I wonder: is it normal/safe to place the wheel axis in the center of the dropout instead of at the end of it? Before I start fiddling with it, it'd be great to get some experienced advice – thanks!

Not a problem at all, still very secure inside the dropout.
It’s to tighten the chain 🙂
As long as the chain isn’t loose, it’s fine
