HUGE IMPROVEMENTS on the F21 Cycle highway – 4K POV Bike Ride in Sint-Truiden, Limburg (Belgium)

🚴 Welcome to this POV bike ride on Cycle highway F21 in the southwestern part of Limburg.

The F21 is a developing bicycle highway intended to connect Tienen to Sint‑Truiden, with a long-term goal of integration into a broader network reaching Hasselt. It offers cyclists a comfortable, green, and mostly car‑free route, utilizing an old railway alignment and scenic landscapes—popular with both recreational and functional riders.

This video focuses on the Stayen – Brustem connection in Sint-Truiden. A safe, continuous, over 3 km long connection between the Stayen roundabout and the Brustem industrial area. It runs alongside the Haspengouwlaan (N3), features a dual‑directional segregated cycling path, and includes lighting.

Two major updates on the route:

1. Montenakenweg intersection upgrades (3:45)
The junction received a smart, traffic‑light–controlled, conflict‑free crossings for cyclists. A 4 m wide dual‑directional cycle lane integrated into the lights system on Haspengouwlaan’s south side. Safe crossings on both sides of the junction, enabling cyclists to cross during their own green phase.

2. Cycle tunnel under N80 interchange (4:35)
A major milestone: as of July 1, 2025, a new underground cycling tunnel opened beneath the N80 interchange, linking segments near Brustem and Stayen. Key features: 180 m long (including access ramps), 4.5 m clear width for comfortable passing and a 5 % grade for easy ascent/descent.

These efforts represent a significant step in connecting major Limburg cities via efficient, high-quality bicycle infrastructure—and in making cycling a viable transportation choice for both locals and long-distance users.
