My kids 16” inch bike has this broken part near the front brake circled red, but I don’t know what it is. We purchased the bike second hand and I think it might have broken before purchase because my kid says they never noticed anything breaking there.
To compound the mystery when I look at new bikes of this model there’s nothing even attached there – please see the second image.
I thought it might be some kind of brake cable hanger, or maybe a previous reflector or a previous brake caliper that was broken?
Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to be important because the brakes work fine..but I would love to know what it might be! Thank you.

Looks like a front reflector mount
That hole on the fork is there for caliper breaks. Normally it’s not used with v breaks and it’s plugged or empty, so I’d think someone used it for a reflector like others have said during its left.
