Added a disc brake mount to my Gt Tequesta a couple of months back and after rigorous testing here are my thoughts.
1.V brakes or cantilevers can’t match the stopping power of 180mm rotors on a 26inch wheel. I will not argue
2.These IIIpro E4 brakes from China are INSANE. Had multiple people with very expensive brakes (Hope ,Trickstuff , Sram Ulitmates,…) try them and everyone has been amazed. You can’t go wrong with these for the price (90$ for the whole set). Beautifull cnc aluminium and the best factory bled brakes I’ve ever received , they’ve been great for +6months already
- The frame actually became stronger because of the extra brace , the flux that was originally used was only reinforced by welding steel to steel with TIG welding. (Let cool gradually)
4.If you’re debating converting your frame … GO FOR IT
Feel free to ask me any questions , here to help ❤️🔥

Did you TIG weld the mount yourself? How long did it take you to become confident enough to give it a go?
I have also just converted my old muddy fox to disc brakes and the difference is night and day.
Thank you for the recommendation. Do the illpro E4 take other brake pads than their own or are you forced into their ecosystem if you buy their brakes?
