Hello!

I’m ring my single speed Surly 1X1 down from Vancouver to hopefully Argentina. Currently near Portland and Amtrak broke my brake lever (mechanical disc brakes). So I’ve got an opportunity to switch to a flat bar set up without it being so much more money. I’m going to be on a lot more off-road trails (planning on hitting the Oregon Timber trail leaving Portland)

Cons with drops so far:
– No space to put hands up top
– Climbing is sorta brutal and I’ve had the levers move on me (they’re tightened as much as possible)
-Hands are starting to get numb if I’m on the hoods too long.

Cons I foresee with flat bars
– they’re boring and just don’t feel as fun in the slightest
– One hand position
-Slower/less aero so have to pedal harder

Any suggestions would be more than welcome!
