  1. Yeah it’s probably time. I wouldn’t say ASAP if you aren’t noticing any issues. I would probably replace at least the lower one when I put on a new chain.

  2. It’s truly remarkable how worn a set of pulley wheels can get without shifting and chain retention degrading. You should order a replacement set and install them when they arrive, but you can continue riding in the meanwhile.

    While you’re at it, get yourself a Park Tool CC-4.2 Chain Checker and make sure you’re not past the wear limit 😛 Pulley wheels are cheap, but burning through cassettes and chainrings because you don’t replace your chain often enough gets expensive FAST.
