Seems way overpriced to me. It was not a particularly high-end bike, even back in its day. Based on the crazy stem, possibly broken shifter, and wacky seat position, it may need a bunch of parts and tweaking to get back into working order.

You should also be aware this is a racing bike: it’s designed to be ridden in an aerodynamic position and it is limited to very skinny tires (pros used to think skinny tires were faster but it turns out they’re not, which is why most modern road and racing bikes have much wider tires).

I probably wouldn’t consider it unless it were about half the price.

Looks like 2004 [page 39](https://vintagecannondale.com/year/2004/2004.pdf) in catalog. lt’s a pretty bike, no doubt. People still like these. lt’s a nice survivor, kinda like an old car that an lady drove on Sunday. ln great shape, but it has roll-up windows, 3-speed manual, am radio and no airconditioning. Sure it will get you from here to there, but on a 100 degree August day, you might get jealous of the guy in the 2020 car in the lane next to you with his ac on full blast and his sub woofers booming

l’d be surprised if seller gets $400. For a first road bike, l think you should avoid this one at any price
