It was always my dream to ride the big cobbled climbs in Belgium. And it delivered. Holy hell these cobbles are brutal. I did the RVV Blue route, around 80km that hits a lot of the big ones. I was smiling from ear to ear all day. Insanely beautiful countryside. I’m still buzzing.

The most I’ve ever attempted was 16% on a nice quiet country road and I had to bail after about 100 meters (let’s just say that I don’t have a climber’s build). I’m breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about 22% on those semi-ancient cobbles!
This is def a bucket list ride.
Good for you!
Preach!
I’m going to have to look this route up. It looks really nice! I may have to make an exception to previous experience. What do those bricks signify that there is one for each rider?
There was one time in my life when I got inspired and wanted to try some cobbles. I rode to this beautiful, small town named Thor in the Netherlands (they have a great pancake house). I learned immediately that I for sure do not like cobbles.
If you’re in for more adventure in the “area” the Limburg area of the Netherlands has nice hills and beautiful scenery. Some climbs from the Amstel Gold race can get steep too. There’s Col du Cauberg and a 22% grade in Schin Op Guel.

Delightful snaps. Thanks for sharing
Rode it, didn’t make it to the top. Lots of walks of shame.
It really is the holy land. Yes there is a pun in there somewhere. Still what an amazing place and trip of a lifetime.
