Looking to get back into biking after some time off (work, injuries, other hobbies) I'm an intermediate rider at best but I would like something I can take on blue/black local trails, and green / blue laps at downhill parks. I know santa cruz makes good bikes, but it's almost ten years old…I also live in a small travel trailer so I'm a little wary of paying a ton of money for a bike because it's quite likely it'll get stolen at some point.

  1. Don’t pay 1200 for this please. I wouldn’t even think of it unless it was under 800. There’s many other good deals.

Look for a 1x drivetrain it will save you the headache of chain slapping. Also if you can find a newer year maybe 2018+, again it will just save you the headache of upgrading parts in the future.

Im sure you could find a better deal for closer to 1000. People are also willing to negotiate pretty far sometimes if you say you have cash ready to pickup. Good luck homie

Old geometry and components, it’s a beauty but please do not buy this for 1200

  3. That was like the first bike that i fell in love with when i returned to mtb as as adult-ish person. They had one in the window of a local shop. I was riding a specialized hardrock id upgraded a little at the time. Its so green and classic and simple.

As far as buying it now 10 years later…id say 600 bucks would be fair.

Sadly, I wouldn’t. If that is at all discouraging, find some kid getting into mtn biking and make a donation/cheap sale. It’s what I did with mine—which admittedly is waaaaay cheaper than yours. Of course, only if you’re not needing money for your next bike.

  5. I have a medium 2017 santa cruz bronson c, with some upgrades, including an avalanche tuned monarch, ill sell ya for that price.

It’s a good looking bike but I wouldn’t give $1200 for an out of date bike. You can get a new more modern handrail for that price.

  7. Take some time and keep shopping. You can find a better, newer bike for $1,200, or a similar bike for a lot less money.

  8. Well, it’s not a 2016 Bantam, they never made one then (2013-2015). But, it was a dated design with conservative geometry even when it was new, so by modern standards it’s pretty tired.

For $1200, it’s a lousy deal. You should be able to find something MUCH better for that money

1200 for a 10 year old aluminum framed single pivot is INSANE (sorry orange fans)
